It’s Art Step Weekend!

silent auction feb

Tonight is our singer/songwriter night from 8-midnight! If you have not come out to enjoy it yet, you should today. Feel free to bring your instrument of choice and join in on the fun!

Our First Friday artist of the month is in fact a collection of the artists from the past year. We are having a silent auction to give you a chance to bid on the works to show our appreciation of what they do for the culture of Downtown Bryan. They generously give of themselves throughout the year to different fundraisers, so I thought we should give them a fundraiser of their own. Come out, bid early and bid often.

The music for Friday is Puente from 6-8pm and Kathy Ross from 8-11pm.

…Puente’s a “roots” band… not “roots rock”, just ROOTS… they do REAL ROOTS MUSIC… I’m talking AMERICA, here, folks…”The Grapes of Wrath”, or a blues bar in the backwaters of the French Quarter in New Orleans pre-Katrina… or in a hobo camp in the Thirties, or at one of the dances my granny took me to as a young child, or in the Cotton Club in Harlem in NYC in the fifties…could’ve been the 1890s, the 1930s, the Fifties, or last night…I LOVE PUENTE…
~ Mick Darwin

Kathy Ross has been singing professionally since the age of 6. Kathy appeared on Star Search and quickly gained a fan base that reached out to millions and through that she has had appearances on VH1 “Before They Were Rock Stars.” Kathy has opened up for Merle Haggard, Kelly Willis and Little Texas. She is also known for her rendition of the National Anthem and that has led her to sing for the Spurs, Rockets, Cowboys, Oilers and Rangers.

Saturday and Sunday we will be having our all day brunch complete with mimosas and live music. Music will happen from 11am-2pm on Saturday and 2pm-5pm on Sunday. Come out and enjoy!

Saturday night is our salsa night with free lessons from 10pm-2am! $5.00 cover at 11.

Come one come all and invite your friends :)

We hope you guys had a wonderful holiday season!  The Village had a wonderful break and we worked on a bunch of new ideas during the holidays.

We are open again with some pretty EXCITING changes.

We are now open every night except Mondays AND we open at 8am EVERY DAY, including weekends.

We now have an extended brunch menu and are serving brunch all day Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday afternoons we have live folk americana music from 11-2
Sunday afternoons we have brunch and drink specials all day with live music from 2-5
Come out for mimosas and beer specials all weekend long.

Beer and wine are now available anytime we are open.

Wednesdays, starting on January 13th we will be having literature night. Complete with book clubs, reading circle and poetry readings. Be sure to come and “Get Lit at the Village”.  We have our own book club that you can join or just bring your book club to us!

Thursdays are still Singer/Songwriter nights with Chris and Brandon. It runs from 8-midnight.
Come weekly to listen to great original music!  “Story songs and Singalongs” will prove to be a fun evening.

This Friday is First Friday and we wil be having live music by Francisco Farias and Elizabeth Russell from 7-9:30pm. The art is representing a large group of artists that displayed over the last year.  We are pricing the art as a silent auction so you can bid on the works and all the proceeds go to the artists themselves for being brave enough to share their wonderful talents with the world.
Brave the cold weather and warm up with our coffee, wine and beer. Dinner will be served all night!

We are continuing with Salsa Saturdays from 11pm-2am.  There is no cover until 11pm.  $5.00 after that.   We will also be adding chill live music on Saturdays before Salsa.

We really hope you can make it out to our new events and that you will spread the word about all the great things happening at The Village.

Come by and see our nice new exterior sign, made by our very own Chris Clonts!

I know its alot of info to take in, but thanks for supporting us and helping us grow and transform into your community cafe.  Bring us your ideas, comments and criticisms.  We appreciate your feedback.

Please spread the word by passing on this email to a friend.  Hope to see you tonight at the Village!
