The Village is a great place to bring your parents to relax and take in the sights of Downtown Bryan. The holiday lights are twinkling and the horse drawn carriage will be running this weekend. We do take reservations for graduation. Call 979-703-8514 to make yours today!

Friday night Joey McGee will be playing around 9:30/10pm.

Soul, rock, folk, a smattering of Bill Withers, the Eagles, and the Brothers Johnson all find their way into McGee’s rich vocals, dancing riffs, and engaging lyrics. The result is a finely crafted second effort sure to leave listeners wanting more – not bad for the once upon a time college-kid with a second-hand guitar and a “learn to play in 20 minutes” songbook!

Currently living in Central Texas, Joey travels and performs throughout the US honing his craft and delighting audiences with his heartfelt songs and soaring musicianship. His release, Love is the Way, proves time has seasoned McGee’s distinctive voice and offers hope that we’ll hear much more from the artist in the years to come.

Happy Hallows Eve Villagers,

The cafe is in the mood for some spirited play this weekend. We are working with many other Downtown groups to bring you the Wacky Wicked Weekend in Downtown Bryan.

Friday and Saturday we will be having our Jack O Lantern Pepperoni Pizzas for $8.00 and while trick or treating you should come by and try our hot chocolate or warm apple cider.

The Village loves Trick or Treaters so come by Friday or Saturday and take a picture by our decorated window and get a treat!

Kicking off the fun on Friday night is a great hometown band in the alley, Sweetbriar at 8pm. Their classic rock stylings will be a great kickoff to a wonderful holiday time. We are having a costume contest that night. Prizes are Village Gift Certificates, 1st place gets $75, 2nd gets $50 and 3rd gets $25 Come dresses to impress!

Saturday is another wonderful Aggie Football game at 11am. BTHO Missouri! If you don’t happen to be attending the game, you should come by the Village for lunch. The last 11 o’clock game proved to give us a very slow lunch crowd, so if you’d like to beat the crowds, COME DOWNTOWN DURING THE GAME. We will not be showing the game since we have no TV, but that’s just part of our charm.

Saturday early evening will be a KEOS Fundraiser featuring RADIOFRIENDLY band. There is a $5 cover.

There will an acoustic act that will perform inside from 7-7:45 followed by Radio Friendly at 8pm.
Keep your ears open and you’ll hear some great original music

Artist of The Month: Eugene Choi

Only one week left to see and purchase Mrs. Choi’s beautiful work.

Here is her artist statement: Art is an expression of the mind. Art is a way for artists to use their ability to express the things that they see and feel through a special language by utilizing lines and colors. Artist want and desire to reflect their feelings and ideas onto their artwork. So with the ability to reason and think creatively an artist is able to embody and reflect their new understanding. Language is something that humans have created to communicate their thoughts and ideas, likewise one`s artwork is a form of language that uses lines, shapes, and colors to communicate and speak a language. The authors are able to create inherently by using their intuitions and reflect their ideas on their work, thus allowing the individual inner world to be displayed in the outer world through their creations. Through the action of creating, one`s inner world is self-examined and by evaluating their fundamentals they are able to gain more incitement. Soon after the originator is able raise their inner thoughts on an exterior subject. So it can be said that when an individual composes their artwork, their artwork, they are seeking to establish their own identity. An individual is able to express what they felt about their normal lives temporarily in an abstract form. The repeated lines are an expressing and a form of hope from a life that is being spent repetitively in the darkness. Rather than depending on the natural instincts of an artist, it is important to logical and theoretical approach to realize that art is an expression of the artist`s feelings. The meaning of art was researched through oriental and western forms of art. Also to further explain the idea that art is an expression of the artists feelings, su-muk was used to capture the uniqueness of this paint by setting the background with su-muk and bring out its character on an image. The main material used to reflect this image was bal-muk. Therefore, the process of making an artwork and the creative process were studied through the usage of su-muk and to better express the relation of these two processes bal-muk was added to the research./Eugene Choi *su-muk, bal-muk is koreanpainting skill name

Don’t forget, all work is for sale. You can bring a one of a kind piece home with you.

QUOTES ABOUT THE BAND>>>
“If y’all don’t love this band…something is wrong with your genetics” – Mark David Manders
“Morris’ talent as a songwriter is equaled by his rich voice and complemented by a cadre of talented musicians. If you are a fan of country or folk music, Ben Morris & GABC is a ‘don’t miss’ gig.” – Hap Mansfield / San Marcos Mercury
“…a rich vocal tone like Haggard & guitar-driven Cash-like melodies…a vibrant personality like Roger Miller…full of character and energy…” – Granger Smith
“I don’t know what to say about them. They defy definition. You can only experience it…” – Matt Matthews / Program Director KTWL 105.3
“Sometimes a group of musicians just clicks.” – Matthew Watkins / Bryan/College Station Eagle __________________________________________________________________________

Songwriter and artist Kristy Krüger has an extensive history in music that spans classical, jazz, folk, and rock genres. Throughout the course of her career as a pianist and composer, when she shifted gears into the world of the singer/songwriter, she brought a broad spectrum of influences with her, ranging from Billie Holliday to Johnny Cash as she criss-crossed the country, touring alone for over nine years. Her untraditional jazz-influenced approach to folk music has carried her throughout the United States, and secured her status as a favorite in her hometown of Dallas, Texas. The Dallas Morning News says she has grown into one of the most eclectic singers in the area, citing her as a “female Tom Waits.”
